Integrated Education in Nanjing

In an important initiative, Ma Xiaobo of the Amity Children’s Development Centre in Nanjing was asked to lead a pilot ‘Inclusive Education’ project, starting in 2022. This project provides integration between young learners attending the Amity Children’s Development Centre (for children with autism and other additional educational needs) and a mainstream school.

It was agreed that the SCCG would facilitate and fund consultation sessions between Ma Xiaobo and Jasmine Miller, an expert in the field and currently Academic Director at the Al Karamah Training Institute or Leadership, to help develop specific resources for the school, teachers and learners.

The first students started attending a local Kindergarten with specially-trained integration teachers working alongside the kindergarten teachers in September 2022. You can read about the first academic year for this Integrated Learning project below (in English and Mandarin).

The SCCG has continued to support this work through Jasmine Miller and through funding English language studies to allow Ma Xiaobo to pursue an MSc in Integrated Learning in the future.
